Swedish is the base of most western types of massages and it provides a very light touch massage that is aimed purely for relaxation. Long slow strokes, bringing ease to muscles, improves circulation and overall wellbeing. Ideal if the body aches all over too much for a deeper touch.

Deep tissue relaxation massage
It lies somewhere between Swedish and Sports massage. Deep tissue massage goes deep enough to release the muscles and the fascia (the connective tissue surrounding every muscle and organ) by tackling knots and aches, but it aims to make you relax on the couch rather than hissing in pain. The mental health benefits of deep tissue massage also cannot be overstated: this hour you take for yourself gives you a rare opportunity to switch on the parasympathetic nervous system that invites much needed rest and space for healing.

Aromatherapy massage

Essential oils have been long prized for their potent healing properties. They have incredible benefits: helping with mood, assisting in alleviating pain, or helping the body detoxify amongst other things. Some are simply amazing for the skin.

I use mainly DoTerra essential oils in my life and in my practice. These are high quality therapeutic grade essential oils, and the superior quality offers much stronger results than the cheaper brands.

You decide what you wish to achieve with the oils, whether you want to feel more relaxed, invigorated, less anxious, or maybe need some pain relief. You will help to choose the correct mixture for yourself which will be applied with gentle Swedish massage and with the help of warm towels to enhance absorption. I also use a vaporiser to inhale the scents for faster results.

For pain relief I often use the famous DoTerra Deep Blue oil or cream (even when doing sports massage) which is legendary in its effect on tired and sore muscles and joints; it is an absolute must in our home. It is a cooling/warming blend that loosens up the muscles, reduces pain and helps to reduce inflammation.
