Deep Spinal Release Therapy

They say that you are as young as your spine is flexible – actually Joseph Pilates’ exact words were “If your spine is inflexibly stiff at 30, you are old. If it is completely flexible at 60, you are young.” So I guess I can honestly say that my aim with this treatment is to turn the clock back for you!

Based on Vertebral Techniques alongside massage and passive stretching, Deep spinal release therapy is exactly what the name suggests. I loosen up all the muscles on the neck/back/buttocks, including the deeper smaller muscles around the spine. I loosen up the fascia, and mobilize all the joints: neck, shoulders and hips.

A healthy spine is essential for every part of your wellbeing.  The spinal cord is nestled inside the vertebrae, and spinal nerves branch out from between them that carry essential signals to the rest of you. While the vertebrae provide protection, any alteration to them will strongly affect the nerves and blood supply to the limbs and inner organs, creating a plethora of issues just about anywhere in the body.

With the stressful environment we are living in and the emotional load we carry, our spine is under constant pressure. It is inevitable that it becomes compressed with the muscles tightening up, and this result in pressure on the nerves. Eventually niggles and aches may start up, and gradual inflexibility creeps in. And this is exactly what this treatment is aimed to help with.

Most people report lots of sensations during treatment: they usually say “I have a lot of tingling down my arms/legs” “There is a lot of heat rising my hips” (which both suggest blockages being removed and blood supply freed up) “I think I have just grown several inches” (as all the compressed vertebrae are freed up and stretched out) “I feel totally jelly” (especially when people have lived with constant muscle tension) “It is a bit sore but a good sore… it feels so good” (some places may feel tender but I only aim for that “good pain” feel).

Releasing the spine in most cases have wonderful results in relieving all sorts of symptoms. It should be seriously considered if you have:

  • Upper back, neck and shoulder tensions
  • Migraines and headaches
  • Lower back pain
  • Sciatica
  • Chronic hip tension
  • Weakness or numbness in the limbs
  • Digestive issues
  • Menstrual issues
  • Low energy and fatigue
  • Emotional or mental health issues
  • Insomnia

… though please keep in mind that it is not offered as a treatment for medical conditions, however in many cases it offers considerable relief.

While I use Vertebral techniques as part of my other massages, this therapy aims to be a full release for all of the upper body and hips to support your overall wellbeing. Sometimes one treatment might be all you need, and if you have deeper issues a few should cement the good results.
